TAG: MY MAKEUP STORY

I know, I just did my first ever tag post and here i am doing it again. Sorry but at least this is makeup-related thing.  (A+ for my excuse!)

I saw this tag on Bubzbeauty’s Channel. I thought it would be fun to share with you ladies my makeup story.

Let’s start!

1. How old were you when you started wearing makeup?
I’m not really sure but I think it’s on my cousin’s wedding. I was one of the flower girls during her wedding.

2. How did you get into makeup?
At first, it was just to get rid of oily skin. I was on my 4th yr highschool when I started wearing pressed powder.  Then I went on college and started to wear blush-on, eyeliners, mascaras, concealers and lipstick but it was pretty much natural-looking. I only got interested with makeup just last year when I started learning about youtube and makeup blogging. I was greatly inspired by makeup bloggers and started creating my own beauty blog last October 2010. From there, everything else just happened. I learned the proper ways of applying makeup and doing eyebrows. But just recently, this year 2011, I tried experimenting more and started learning about eyeshadows.

3. What are some of your favorite brands?
The first brand I fell inlove with is Elf cosmetics. They’re cheap but works well for me. Other brands that I just recently discovered were: Maybelline, Ever Bilena, In2it, Nyx, Revlon and Wet n Wild.

4. If you could only wear 4 products on your face what would they be?
Foundation, concealer, eyebrow pencil and lip balm.

5. What does makeup mean to you?
For me as woman, appearance is very important. It is important to look presentable at all times. When you feel more beautiful, you feel more confident. It helps you boosts your self-confidence because it covers your imperfections. Makeup does not only cover imperfections but also helps women to enhance what they already have.

6. What is your favorite thing about makeup?
You can turn yourself into whoever you want to be. A Disney princess, rockstar, a diva, a character from your favourite anime or the likes

7. What do you think about drugstore makeup vs. high end makeup?
High end products are great if you’re good enough to afford it. If not, drugstore products are great alternatives. But i wouldn’t say that high ends product are always better than drugstore ones. There are good and bad in both of them.

8. What is one tip of advice you can give to a beginner?
I would consider myself a beginner also since I’m not really an expert. I’m not really into makeup world; I never had any makeup related jobs except for doing makeover for my friends and family.
But if I’m an expert I would probably advice to keep on practicing. I’m a strong believer of this famous line, “practice makes perfect.” Nobody starts from best.
Also, Youtube videos and reading blogs will help alot in improving your skills. But remember, what works for the others may not work for you so try practicing and experimenting other ways on applying makeup. Who knows, you might find the best trick that will works best for you.

9. What is one make up trend you've never understood?
Leopard prints on lips. Don’t get me wrong. But I don’t think it looks good.

10. What do you think about the beauty community on YouTube?
Totally awesome.
·        -No need to enrol for makeup classes in order to learn about doing makeup. Makeup classes are expensive nowadays.
·         -More options, more tricks, more techniques and more tips!
·         -Reviews and product dupes help me save alot of money
·        - They inspires me! Hope i could be as good as them in the future.
How about you, what's your makeup story? If you're interested to share yours, feel free to tag yourself. Don't forget to leave me your blog url so I could visit your makeup story tag. :)

REVLON SUPER LUSTROUS LIPSTICK IN PINK IN THE AFTERNOON

Two facts lipstick-related about me:

1. I hate lipsticks that are extremely drying
2. I hate lipsticks that do not last long on my lips

But all of the lipstick that I have right now are either drying or the staying power is not so good.

But if to choose among the two, I hate drying lipstick the most.  I hate lipsticks that are extremely drying!!

It will never change! I could live with a lipstick that would stay atleast 2 hours on me as long as they’re not SUPER drying! Emphasis on “SUPER.” These are the lipstick that I already tried lip balm underneath but I cannot make it works for me. I just despised lipsticks that are very drying. That’s me! I would rather live with lipbalm only than a lipstick that is very drying!

Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick in Pink In the Afternoon is a very flattering pink shade. It is very nice for everyday look.MINAKICHU uniquely described this as a lipstick that makes her look like a “Virgin.” True enough! I would say that this would be a beautiful “My Lips But Better” color just because it gives a nice hint of pink. I hope you get what I mean.
But here are the downside of this: it is extremely drying and do not lasts long on my lips. Two things I could never forgive. It makes my lipstick extremely dry. I could compare it to my Colorburst (in Baby Pink). Some might say, it’s not drying for them but really, it’s really drying on me. Maybe, my lips are too sensitive?? err. Anyhow, if you know lip balm that you think will works with this, please let me know. Some of the lip gel/balms that I already tried with this lipstick are: Mentholatum Lip Gel, LipIce Sheer, Venus and Mars Lip Balm and Nivea Lip Care.
Describe the color:
I always struggle in describing the color of a lipstick so I tried swatching them with two lipsticks that I usually used.

(Nyx Rls in Tea Rose, Revlon Pink in the Afternoon, Maybelline Angel Rose)
In between the nyx rls in tea rose and Maybelline Angel Rose is my Pink in the Afternoon. All of them are pink lipsticks. Pink in the Afternoon is a pretty light pink color with a slight hint of coral (on my opinion). Maybelline Angel Rose hint of coral is obviously more intense than Pink in the Afternoon.

I tried swatching Nyx Tea Rose and Pink In the Afternoon using indoor lightning. I thought they’re a close dupe. But I was so wrong. Nyx Tea Rose is a deeper pink. Pink in the afternoon is more like a pale pink.

Packaging:
I have a problem with the packaging. I purchased this lipstick on ebay. But when I saw the lipsticks on other people’s blogs, I was shocked that it was in a different packaging. Then I saw another seller somewhere not in the Philippines, probably one of the sites in the U.S selling the same lipstick with the same packaging as mine. I forgot the site. Sorry. But if you do know why this one comes in this packaging please let me know.

I already asked the seller about this, and she replied, "Dalawang style po kase yung packaging nila madam, one is yung may stripe band na gold sa tube at yung isa po yung walang band. but rest assured that both has the same shade and both are authentic from revlon. Salamat po."

Anyhow, overall the packaging looks nice and sleek.

Smells:
It smells like a typical lipstick my mom used way back years ago ;p Sorry, but I can’t find words to describe it. It smells like a typical lipstick years back then. I hope you get me. ;)

Pigmentation/Texture/ Finish/ Consistency:
It is pretty pigmented.
But, this is extremely drying on me. I tried all my lipbalms underneath. I just couldn’t make it works for me. Just like I told you before, I hate lipsticks that are very drying. I would rather go for lipstick with poor staying power as long as they don’t dry my lips like hell.

Staying Power:
Stays 1-2 hours on me.

What I love most:
I love the shade especially for every day! Probably one of my new favorites shade!

What I hate most:
Extremely drying!

Price:
Php 150 @ ebay

Rating:
3/5. Yes the color payoff is good, the color is very flattering but not my kind of lipstick. I despised lipstick that are very drying for the nth times. It more drying than Ever Bilena Matte Lipstick
 ;)
My lipstick with Venus and Mars Lip Balm
Lips with Revlon Super Lustrous (so drying )

See how drying it is even with lip balm underneath. :(

Water Means Life

Although not generally considered water as an essential part of diet, it is actually the most important thing… you can live without food for weeks, even months, but we can die within a few days if do not take the vital fluid that is more than two-thirds parts of our body.

Our body loses water daily in various ways, always obeying different functions:
* By eliminating urine (1 400 ml)
* Through the skin when sweat (400 ml).
* When we breathe and talk (350 ml).
* To expel fecal matter (120 milliliters)

Drinking water with little fluid
We know if we take enough water by looking at our urine, because if it passes a lot and is light in color, then we can say that enough water is ingested, whereas when expelling small quantity, dark or intense odor, the amount of liquid you drink is inadequate.

An early sign of lack of water is nature or irritable mood swings, that due to the nearly 40 billion brain cells are made up of 80% of the vital liquid and beginning to fail you lose the ability to think clearly and functionally; sometimes, depression and irritability may be due to this cause.

In addition, the consumption of this element is important for therapy that is a sick person, because drinking water encourages proper immune function, facilitates the excretion of substances toxic and allows defense and mucous cells are in good condition. It also helps fight fever and acceleration metabolism that occur in most conditions.

Water prevents possible changes in our body, and helps prevent bladder infections, during perspiration leads to the outside waste substances that are harmful to our body and help to control weight, it calms the feeling of hunger, helps regulate the normal functioning of the liver (organ involved in the processing of fat), make more urine and remove excess salt.

Recommendations
If a person does not consume the amounts of liquid that your body requires, it will seem impossible to get used, but not so, which is why we provide the following tips to acquire a good habit:
* Start each morning drinking two glasses of warm water.
* Drink two more glasses between breakfast and lunch, and the same dose between lunch and dinner.
* During the night, while performing activity (watching TV, listening to music, talking) drink 2 glasses more.
* Drink fluids near body temperature, avoid alcoholic beverages with their food cold, as this reduces the amount of blood flowing in the stomach area, forces the process of assimilation of nutrients and causes indigestion for extra spending power.
* If you try to lose weight drink a glass the vital liquid every time you feel hungry, also a cup area can curb your appetite.
* Try to drink bottled water. The liquid chlorine kills germs, but also reduces cholesterol and increases beneficial harmful, while the filters do not remove all bacteria.
* If you suffer from heart disease or kidney, control your intake of fluids under proper supervision care.

Finally, consider the reasonable consumption of this element is necessary at any time of year to be renovated in our body and smooth flow, allowing thus maintain good health.

My Twin's Grad Make-up

I did my twin sister's make-up for her graduation.

At first, I was thinking of doing a boring-neutral-look for daytime, but she requested a night look for her graduation since she had no idea on how she would transform herself from daytime graduation look to her party night look... plus i won't be there to do her make-up
So, I opted to do a make-up that would be okay for night look, but not too much for daytime look. (atleast, will looks decent even at day)

Here's her picture without any makeup on..
Sorry, her hair looks really messy and wet here.

And now..
Her transformation..
TADA..
She looks more like me now.. haha! ;)

Hope you liked it.. :)

Nokia E5

Hi, as promised this post is about the new phone that I got, but this will be a long post. I’ll be telling a very long story of myself so please, if you’re not interested, feel free to skip the paragraph with red fonts.

note: I’ll be showing and reviewing my Nokia E5, but I’ll just review it on how I see it on my own perspective and own language hahaha. I’m not very knowledgeable in technical terms for cellphone but hope this helps you. Feel free to search the google if my review is not enough. ;)

But first I would really like to show you my old fone (which I use for my TM simcard). It’s from Sony. I would highly recommend this fone, but too bad.. i believe it’s already obsolete. Hahah! Anyhow, it’s a good fone, but still, there are lots of things you can’t do with this.
This is a very old fone, sorry hahaha! ;)
My sony has a very nice features. I really like the uniqueness of the Music Player. And the Camera is actually good. You can adjust it in many ways you like. The casing is also very nice. The back is made of rubber. Plus, it has a wifi. Though, web browsing is not as good as most cellphones nowadays.
Left: Nokia E5, Right: Sony Ericcson W960

Anyway, I was actually planning on buying a new phone for my Sun Cellular (before, I was using Nokia N73 for my sun.) I was eyeing for an Iphone that time, so I have to save my allowances so I could atleast give a share for the phone and rest will be paid by my father.

But, an incident we least expect happened. The bank where my father keeps his money was shut down. I know you know what bank that is. My dad was extremely sad and depressed that time, and so, I can’t find any courage to ask money anymore.

That’s why I look for another alternative... a cheaper cellphone where my savings would just be enough. I also decided to buy a phone that is not sliding since sliding phone is not as durable as the non-sliding one. I would also like to try qwerty fone since I never had qwerty fone before.

At first, I was eyeing on Blackberry Gemini Curve 8520 because it cost only Php 10,000-11,000 at Greenhills shopping center. But my oldest sister, who is using the same fone, told me that Blackberry is a boring phone unless you are going to register for BBM. I was like, “Sino naman i-BBM ko?” I even asked my boyfriend to buy Blackberry fone so I could BBM him (in case I got one for myself) but he refuses since he wants iphone for himself. Ennkk. My oldest sister told me that if it’s not only for his boyfriend who happens to be in the U.S (and using Blackberry also) she wouldn’t buy blackberry, instead she would buy Nokia E71 (my other sisters’ fone, Em). *To all users of Blackberry users please don’t shoot us! We all have different opinions! and we differs in lifestyle.. Hahah*

So, the truth is I was searching the net all day and found out about this Nokia E5. So, yes, I went to Greenhills and  tried Nokia E71 and Nokia E5. The sales lady was discouraging me to buy Nokia e5 and told me that it will be phased-out soon. But I just ignored that, since I won’t be selling my cellphone naman agad. I want something I could use for a very loooong time. So, in the end I decided to buy Nokia E5 over E71 for 3 reasons: better features, better camera and Php 2,000 cheaper! Would you believe that? I think I made a right decision. I even asked my sister (who is using Nokia e71) to try my new fone and she said, “Palit nalang tayoooo?” hahaha!

Since Nokia E5 is cheaper there are some things Nokia Company needs to sacrifice. I would say Nokia E5 looks way cheaper than Nokia E71 since nokia e5 is made of plastics material and a little metal at back cover and at front. Another down side, when I have to text someone outside , under the heat of the sun, I can’t no longer see the text on my screens, and so I have to look for a shed for me to be able to see it. I hope you could get me, i don’t really know the technical terms for that. Hoho!

Woooo, that’s a long story to tell! Hahaha! Anyhow, this would be a really long post since I decided to post some features I really liked about this fone. I hope this would be helpful for people looking for cheap alternative qwerty fone or people who is on budget like me.

Here’s a picture of Nokia E71 (left) and Nokia E5 (right):
As you can see, nokia e71 looks more classy with shiny metal casing than Nokia E5.
Nokia E71 is handier than Nokia E5

Now behold.. my Nokia E5
Here’s the picture of the keypad. I find that the keypad of Nokia E5 is softer than Nokia E71, softer in a sense that when you click each letters on keypad, it is alot easier and softer. I dunno if it makes sense hahaha! If you notice my screen is a little distorted, don’t be bothered because it’s not really distorted. I think the reason behind that is the scratch-free screen protector I got.
Here’s the picture of my home screen in Contact Bar view. This is the most helpful views on my part because I could put all the pictures of the names of the people I needed most or I texted most in the homescreen together with their details so I would no longer search their names in the contacts. And it’s kinda cute to wake up every morning and see the pictures of the people you love most on your home screen right? I believe Nokia E71 doesn’t have this feature.
Also, in the contact view, you could include details of them. Example, on my sister I put her title “Architect.” This is very helpful if you’re like a person who forgets most of the time. You could write, “President of Blah blah corporation” as title. Also you could insert her picture on the contacts. If you don’t have pictures of him/her, no worries because you could match it to your Facebook’s friends! Amazing right?
Just Choose her name on contacts, click Option, choose Facebook, then Select Match (be sure to have internet connection first). Then, find her name on your friendlist and her profile picture will be automatically updated on your contacts and in additional, you will be also be updated on her Status in FB. Isn’t it fun?

You can also change the view from Contact Bar to Horizontal Bar.

And Horizontal bar to Active Bar.
 And so on....

You can also change the way you view your menu.
Just like this:
 Grid
 V-Shaped
 Horseshoe
  And List
Another helpful feature is that you automatically connect your emails directly on your inbox and the most exciting part is; you could have more than 1 email account. Just like me, I have two gmail account but I can update and check them automatically without signing out. Isn’t it great?
Plus, you could separately change your mode into Business and Personal.I forgot to take a picture of that, but yes, you can do that.

There are more things you could do other than the mentioned above like:  Very organized calendar, Ovi Maps,Nokia Ovi Stores, Share your pictures thru "share online" application, nice gallery view, Add tags on your gallery, GPS, plus loaded with applications that are helpful for business people, or even travelers. This fone is helpful also if your blind because it has a talking theme setting which basically, talks. ;) you can also adjust the setting of the speaker (girl or boy) and their speed of talking in a way that you could understand.

See, all these features plus more for only Php 8,800.

Here’s the amateur video that I made. Very Amateur. Haha! ;p
Hope this helps you! Sorry for a very long post!
